Position Summary:

The Resource Protection Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the Museum's staff, visitors, exhibitions and collections.

 Essential Functions:

  • Stand posts, screen access, and patrol the Missouri History Museum's buildings and surrounding grounds.
  • Conduct courteous and professional interaction with Museum visitors and staff at all times and deter and/or interdict criminal activity according to the Missouri History Museum's policy and St. Louis County Police Private Security Unit. 


  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Some secondary education preferred.
  • Valid drivers license required.
  • Professional training and experience in security related field.
  • Qualify to obtain a St. Louis Metropolitan Security Officer License and CPR and First Aid Certification (other trainings as deemed necessary).
  • Available to work flexible shifts- including weekends, evenings and holidays. 


  • Must possess knowledge of electronic security/safety systems.
