Position Summary:

The Inventory Technician will be responsible for updating locations and record hierarchies for folder and item-level records as well as reconciling duplicate records for the Photos and Prints department.  This position is scheduled for 9 months (January 2, 2019-September 30, 2019).

Essential Functions:

  • Update and review folder and item-level locations and hierarchies
  • Reconcile duplicate item-level records
  • Reconcile inconsistencies in folder-level records

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in related discipline (Library Science, History, American Studies, or Material Culture) required
  • Minimum 5 years experience working with image collections in an archival setting required, including knowledge of proper identification, handling and care of photographic and print materials
  • Experience working with Mimsy or other collection management databases required

Skills:

  • Proficient knowledge of archival methodology
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working with historical visual material
