Position Summary:
The Missouri Historical Society seeks a Membership Coordinator. This position coordinates the overall membership programs, providing exceptional customer service to MHS members, with a focus on membership acquisition, retention, and renewal.
Essential Functions:
- Provides a high level of service to foster strong relationships with members, non-members, past donors, and sponsors
- Acts as the main point of contact for general members and field phone calls; responds to all communication through the membership phone line and email address
- Ensures proper cultivation and stewardship for general members
- Coordinates and manages the planning, promotion, execution, and follow-up associated with membership events including: member tours, Behind the Scenes tours, and other membership events that support the goals of the department
- Responsible for creation of email and direct mail renewal campaigns and special appeals for member acquisition
- Works with graphic design and membership staff to design print and digital membership materials
- Assists the Membership and Annual Fund Manager and the Fundraising and Special Events Coordinator as needed with development events and fundraisers
- Acts as liaison with Visitor Experience staff on membership sales, reporting, and program updates
- Generates and implements onsite sales training based on membership strategy
- Researches and secures promotional items to be used for onsite sales and work within budgetary constraints
- Administers the Time Travelers reciprocal membership program and Orthwein Plaza brick program
- Manages office volunteers and interns
- Assists Managing Director of Development in a variety of other areas and undertakes other activities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 1-3 three years of experience in membership, development, or related field
- A willingness to work flexible hours is necessary, with ability to attend occasional evening and weekend events
Preferred Qualifications:
- Database experience (Altru preferred)
- Event coordination experience
