Electrician/General Maintenance
Position Summary:
The Missouri Historical Society seeks an Electrician/General Maintenance. Tasks will include electrical troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance, installation, and design reviews for Missouri Historical Society facilities.
Essential Functions:
- Performs all preventative maintenance, operational checks, repair, layout, installation, troubleshooting, and tracing, locating defects, modification on all new and existing electrical systems, electrical generators and fire suppression
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
- Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
- Works from plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, repair manuals and related codes: National Electric Code, Uniform Building Code, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Life Safety Code, and NFPA 70A Electrical Code of preventative maintenance.
- Work with exhibits department on electrical needs. . Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
Qualifications:
- Valid drivers license required
- Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
- Both Alternating and Direct current knowledge and skills required.
- Experience and knowledge in Programmable Logic Controls, as well as experience with Variable Frequency Drives required.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and computer skills (Word, Excel, and Office 365).
- Must be able to operate hand tools and ability to learn fountain operations
- Possess the ability to work as a team member or independently to accomplish tasks
