Position Summary:
The Missouri Historical Society is accepting applications from evaluation experts interested in museum evaluation and a 15 week part-time position within the Evaluation Department. This position is hybrid and reports to the Manager of Institutional Evaluation. The Evaluation Associate will conduct evaluation at MHS, research and contribute to best and emerging practices in museum evaluation through designing, conducting, analyzing and reporting on visitor data and researching the field.
Duties:
- Engage in visitor-facing evaluation methods such as interviews, surveys, and observational data
- Design, conduct (along with assistance from Data Squad and Manager of Institutional Evaluation), analyze evaluation of History Clubhouse area
- Generate and present visitor reports to multiple stakeholders throughout the museum
- Assist with data entry, analysis, visualization, and reporting
- Assist with institutional evaluation capacity building with volunteers and MHS staff
- Assist with publication of edited compilation
Skills:
- Interest in visitor studies, sociology, data design and visualization,
- Must have strong writing skills, proficiency in related programs (Excel, surveymonkey), and strong interpersonal skills in interacting with staff and visitors.
- Ability to multi-task
- Capability to work offsite
- Collaborate on creative concepts
Education and Experience:
- Visitor Studies experience
- Preferably a current or recent undergraduate student In good standing
- Experience leading a team of museum volunteers In building evaluation skills
- Academic writing experience
Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, daily schedule flexible.
