Facilities Maintenance Technician

Position Summary:

The Missouri Historical Society seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician for the Soldiers Memorial Military Museum.

Essential Functions:

• Install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation, cooling units, diagnose and repair of electronic, mechanical and electrical components
• Travel to all Missouri Historical Society locations leased or owned and perform service calls and maintenance
• Be available to work nights or weekends, on a rotating basis, to service emergency needs of the institution
• Maintain good working order of company vehicles including refueling as necessary, reporting any mechanical issues to the reporting supervisor
• Maintain and use proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment
• Participate in company provided training opportunities on latest industry technologies
• Identify and report to reporting supervisor potential opportunities for additional business (newer system, service contracts, and additional services)
• Identify to reporting supervisor new and energy efficient equipment as well as equipment at end of life
• Performs preventative maintenance such as change air filters, lubricate pumps and motors, replace and adjust worn belts
• Repair plumbing related equipment
• Perform drywall repairs, paint
• Knowledgeable of exhibit lighting & installation
• Understand and operate irrigation, fountain, and pool pumps

Qualifications:                   

• EPA 608 Certification with universal
• Successful completion of HVAC trade school
• Minimum 5-7 years field related work on commercial equipment
• Working knowledge of general building maintenance

 Job Skills:

• 5-7 years experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting and correcting diverse HVAC service issues to include heat pumps, and steam generation equipment
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals
• Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations
• Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time
• Must maintain all HVAC required tools, power tools, chemicals, and the like on a daily basis
• Need to be aware of potential damage to museum displays and artifacts
• Possess electrical & electronic skills relating to HVAC equipment
• High level of computer proficiency relating to building automation systems, ability to learn new systems in a timely manner
• Proficient in Word & excel to create charts and reports
• Operate hand tools to include power saw, drills, and other equipment
