Position Summary:
The Missouri Historical Society seeks a Graphic Designer to help with the design of a variety of projects and materials, including logos, brochures, rack cards, invitations, PowerPoint presentations, signage, reports, traveling displays, web graphics, and other forms of visual communication. The Graphic Designer must adhere to the Missouri Historical Society's graphic brand standards and assist others throughout the institution in following brand guidelines.
Essential Functions:
- Creates and fulfills graphic projects/requests from inception to completion
- Develops logos for various projects and events
- Meets and works with multiple departments to gather ideas and present design concepts
- Assists the Missouri History Museum Shop in the creation of exhibit-driven merchandise
- Helps produce traveling banner shows
- Prepares designs and layouts within brand guidelines
- Performs photo color correction and retouching of photos as needed
- Meets and works with outside vendors
- Coordinates production processes including scheduling, selecting production media and materials that meet budget requirements, and inspecting proofs for accuracy and adherence to appropriate production standards
- Helps maintain a photo database
- Assists with other projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design or related field
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
- At least three years of experience with print production
Skills:
- Proficient in a Mac-based environment
- Self-motivated, good-natured, flexible, and creative
- Superior time-management, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to take direction, feedback, and critiques constructively
- Excellent attention to detail, including proven proofreading capabilities
