IMLS Cataloging and Digitization Specialist
Position Summary:
The Missouri Historical Society seeks an IMLS Cataloging and Digitization Specialist.
The IMLS Cataloging and Digitization Specialist will work on cataloging and digitizing photographic negatives from the 1940s made by the Sievers Studio as part of an Institute of Museum and Library Science (IMLS)- funded grant project. Specialist will create catalog records according to department guidelines as well as digitizing 8x10 and 4x5 film negatives under the guidance of the Archivist.
This is a temporary part-time position slated to begin in September 2020 and end November 30, 2021.
Essential Functions:
- Create descriptive catalog records for assigned images
- Digitize film negatives using a digital camera
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in History or American Studies
- Masters degree students or recent graduates in Library Science or Museum Studies preferred
Skills:
- Prior experience working in an archival or museum setting
- Familiarity with Photoshop and archival cataloging methods
- Experience working with photographic material
- Experience creating digital images
- Solid written and oral communication skills
