Position Summary:
The Manager of Institutional Evaluation leads the Missouri Historical Society's Evaluation Program, which oversees establishing and maintaining a systematic and integrated approach to conducting audience research in order to better understand our various audiences and contribute to the wider museum field.
This position supervises Evaluation volunteers, and interns; and works closely with a variety of departments within the Missouri Historical Society.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluation
- Develop and implement program, exhibit, and guest experience evaluation
- Analyze and communicate quantitative and qualitative data through written reports and presentations
- Develop and maintain system for collecting institution-wide visitor demographics and engagement
- Process regular reports of program and museum attendance/impact data
- Conduct audience research projects that can inform the evaluation and museum field
- Capacity Building
- Supervise the hiring, training, and oversight of data evaluation volunteers and interns
- Support MHS staff in the development of in-house evaluation projects
- Design and lead evaluation training for staff and volunteers/interns
- Dissemination
- Prepare written reports, handouts, graphics, etc., to share evaluation results
- Process regular reports of program and museum attendance/impact data for constituents
- Share insights locally and nationally through presentations and publications
- Other
- Build and maintain relationships with other evaluators at peer institutions
- Build and maintain relationships with local university/college programs
- Stay up to date with current research and methodologies in museum evaluation
Requirements:
- BA or BS in social sciences, social work, museum studies, or related field desired
- Minimum of 3 years' of experience (internships included) working with non-profit or community organizations
- Minimum of 3 years' of experience in audience research and evaluation, visitor studies, and/or marketing research
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, various survey platforms, and SPSS Statistics or other statistical applications
- Requires work on some weekends and evenings
Skills:
- Excellent organizational skills that allow working on multiple projects at one time
- Strong interpersonal, written, and overall communication skills
- Ability to work with diverse audiences
- Ability to work independently and effectively, collaborate with peers, and lead cross-departmental teams
