Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing a professional visual presence to preserve a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, exhibitions, and collections in all Missouri Historical Society properties. This person is further responsible for ensuring that all persons under his/her charge are diligently carrying out their assigned duties during their shift. The supervisor will stand post when needed and assist with training of officers. The Supervisor will be a dedicated professional that is able to assist in the development of procedures in emergency response, incident management and deterrence of criminal activity according to Missouri Historical Society and the St. Louis County and City Private Security Unit.


Essential Functions:

  • As an essential staff member, required to always work scheduled shift, in all conditions.
  • Assigned Resource Protection Officers daily posts based on MHS daily needs and operational staffing levels.
  • Provides professional and excellent customer service to staff and visitors via phone or in-person. Supervisor represents the institution in an exemplary manner as front-staff.
  • Responsible for assisting with department and institutional security procedure training in all MHS locations.
  • Performs all tasks associated with the duties of Resource Protection Officer.
  • Assist in development of staff of Resource Protection Officers who will safeguard the Missouri Historical Society's assets and property, as well as the physical safety of employees and visitors.
  • Will work irregular hours if needed to ensure all MHS events and other activities are covered as required.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Some secondary education in law enforcement or security-related field in a non-profit organization a plus.
  • Must have 3-5 years previous supervisory experience in the security field to include staff scheduling.

Skills:

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Metropolitan Security Officer's License through the Saint Louis County Police Department's Private Security Unit.
  • Comprehensive understanding of scheduling security officers for various shift work.
  • Experience with DNA building security and Milestone surveillance systems software.
  • Able to work closely with department coordinator, manager and the MHS leadership team to maintain an effective security program to assist in operations support.
  • Able to thoroughly train and update security personnel in department procedures and requirements.
  • Be able to create and maintain a positive and professional work environment amongst department staff.
