Visual Materials Associate Processing Archivist

Position Summary:

The Visual Materials Associate Processing Archivist will be responsible for all aspects of processing and cataloging the Missouri Historical Society's Photographs and Prints and Moving Images and Sound collections.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for all aspects of processing and cataloging the Photographs and Prints and Moving Images and Sound collections
• Involved in digitization projects for both collections
• Supervision of volunteers and interns
• Promoting the collections through the institution's social media outlets
• Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in Library Science required
• Experience working with most major types of 19th and 20th century prints, photographic processes, formats, and negatives
• Experience working with photographic and media collections
• Familiarity with a variety of audio and visual media materials
• Experience cataloging and digitizing photographic material
• Experience with and knowledge of television, media, and film making production processes and techniques
• Experience working with Mimsy collection management software, Photoshop, and Piction preferred
• Experience supervising interns

Skills:

• Proficient knowledge of archival methodology
• Knowledge of proper identification, handling, and care of photographic and various analogue and digital media formats
• Knowledge of DACS and metadata standards
