Senior Accountant

Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant is a service-oriented position that is responsible for various accounting functions for the Missouri Historical Society.

Essential Functions:

• Assist with the oversight of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets and Deprecation, Insurance, Endowment, and Museum Shop functions
• Responsible for monthly/quarterly/annual accounting close and reconciliation processes, including preparation and/or review of journal entries and supporting documentation, as well as preparation and/or review of reconciliations of general ledger accounts 
• Record investment transactions for the operating accounts, maintain investment records and investment ledger.  Analyze and reconcile monthly investment reports. 
• Prepare monthly financial statements for the Museum Shop
• Assist with the preparation of the monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements and budget reports 
• Maintain current written procedures
• Cross train and serve as back up to Accounts Payable and Payroll 
• Perform other appropriate duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Minimum of 2-4 year of accounting experience. Not-for-profit accounting experience is preferred 
• Experience with Financial Edge accounting system is preferred
• Solid written and oral communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Office

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
